Congratulations to Darragh Whelan who won the Limerick award at this year’s National Juvenile Star Awards which were presented at the Mullingar Park Hotel last weekend. The awards acknowledge the performances of athletes between u15 and u20 for 2025 calendar year.

Darragh received the award on the basis of the seven National Championships he won last year, which included the Irish Schools Junior Cross Country and 1500m, the u15 indoor 800m (in a championship record), the national u15 800m and 1500m (also in the championship record) as well as the u15 and u16 National Cross Country Championships. To top that off, Darragh also won the Junior School’s International Cross Country championships in Scotland.

The overall award was won by Conor Kelly for his victory in the European U20 400m championship last summer.
